How We Serve
Cross Trade is presently serving 50 families who produce a wide range of products. We value our relationship with these hard working people above everything else. We work with each family to modify, or change completely, their products to improve marketability and increase sales.
The purpose of our semi-annual visits with the families is to discuss product changes, new products, and ways to increase family income with new equipment and alternatives in raw material acquisition. A portion of each trip to Brazil is also dedicated to looking for new families to help.
Equipment loans are made available to each family as needed. Repayment does not begin until the family’s product(s) begins to sell. Then the family has three years to repay the loan.
From our warehouse location we are able to stay in touch with each family. After families begin to earn income through Cross Trade’s orders, we ask them to purchase a pre-paid cell phone and call us collect to avoid long distance charges and reduction in call minutes. We also take advantage of Brazil’s sophisticated banking system. Most families do not have bank accounts before meeting Cross Trade. We provide assistance in opening a transfer account in a nearby bank and are then able to pay each family by electronic deposits. Generally several families will designate one family to handle the ‘banking’ duties – indicating a level of trust that is uncommon in our country.
